FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC
The Town of Wellfleet is seeking a well-qualified individual for the full-time position of Firefighter/Paramedic. The starting salary is $72,970.12, with additional education incentives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Massachusetts EMT-P certification.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive physical examination and the Physical Abilities Test administered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Human Resources Division.
- Complete comprehensive psychiatric evaluation.
- Preference will be given to candidates with training equivalent to Firefighter I/II.
Upon hire, the selected candidate must attend and complete the Massachusetts State Fire Academy Recruit Program.

Career Employment
The career staff consists of a Chief, Deputy Chief, Administrative Assistant, eight Firefighter/EMT's, and twelve Firefighter/Paramedics. Open positions, when available, are posted on the Employment Opportunities page of the town web site and may be advertised in local/regional newspaper at the department's discretion.
All applicants are required to posses a valid Massachusetts drivers license, and be a non smoker. If selected for employment all applicants must pass the Massachusetts Firefighters Physical Ability Test and a Department Physical. Once employed they must successfully complete the Massachusetts Fire Academy Recruit Training Program and a one year probationary period.
On Call Employment
Applications for on call employment are accepted on an ongoing basis. All applicants must possess a valid Massachusetts certification as an EMT-B or higher, a valid Massachusetts drivers license, and be a non-smoker. Once employed they must successfully complete a one year probationary period, and within two years a NFPA Firefighter I/II course.
