Fri. May 23rd 2008
At around noon time an appliance delivery truck went off of Gull Pond Road in the area of the Samuel Ryder House. The truck sheered off a telephone pole knocking out power in the area and ruptured its fuel tank spilling up to thirty gallons of diesel fuel onto the soil. The Wellfleet Fire and Police Departments responded and found no injuries, the cause of the accident it still under investigation. The Wellfleet Health Agent, Cape Cod Oil, the National Park Service, and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection were called in to assess and deal with the fuel spill. NSTAR and Verizon dealt with the utilities.
